    Retiree here: We bought all GE Monogram appliances for a new build back in 2015. Have had nothing but problems with the built in doubl oven so we finally replaced it with a GE Profile high tech oven that hooks up to your phone and you have to swipe to start it. I wanted the GE Profile that had the buttons. Hubs bought a 5 year warranty on it. The built in refrigerator ice maker is a nightmare!! It has never worked. Lights have been out for a year. Too much money to fix until we have to. The computer module.🙄 Next house. No ice maker in the refrigerator. Buy one of those ice makers that you can put u/c. Any suggestions for that appliance? And we want a freestanding refrigerator. No built in! Also, wall ovens or slide in cooktop/oven? We had all GE Profile appliances in our last house in 2010. No problems but only lived there 5 years. Thank you!

    Great video. My Bosch has that power control spray arm and the red spinny part is always right over the filter. Hence, i have yet to clean that filter (and it's probably two months old now). All of the "how to" videos show unobstructed access to the filter - unlike my machine, the spray arm is never in the way. When i've tried to move that arm, i feel resistance which stops me flat. I'm afraid i'll break it! Is it safe to spin that arm out of the way so i can clean the filter? Or perhaps lift it off?

It is like it doesn’t sense your finger to control it beeps more than anything. It is very frustrating. When you finally get what you want it works great. I have also had Wolf’s previous first generation with the curved red controls before this current one. The controls worked much better on that one very sensitive to the touch. I would like to see more on 36” being put to the test. There is really nothing out there on them being used online.

    It amazes me that GE is the only one using MicroBan or something similar. Is it a patent thing (doubtful) or just ego not letting them admit GE has a better approach? Personally I'm hoping that LG will fix the ommission of the auto dispenser in their new heat pump Wash Tower when I'm ready to buy again in the next few years.

  • @RedErin

    GE already won me over, I feel like I barely do laundry now and it’s not a chore. Who wants a tiny LCD screen to scroll through?? I love GE’s large dial angled up at my face, with easy to find settings. I’m not even going to comment on Samsung putting the dispensers at the floor level, just no.

  • @RedErin
    @RedErin 3 дня назад

    Have it, love it, I’ll never go back to separate units. The controls are so easy to see and laid out so you can quickly find the setting you want. I hated the tiny LCD screen on my old washer with tiny print and things to scroll through. Cleanest clothes and least time spent doing laundry, it’s actually life changing. One thing it’s missing - a dedicated light button. You have to hold another button for 3 seconds. But it’s rare that I need that so I can see why they did that, but still.

  • @RedErin
    @RedErin 3 дня назад

    Look, I’ve had this since it came out and there is no lint problem. My drying performance has not changed at all, and I do have dogs, long hair, etc. Clean the lint filter as directed just like in a regular dryer (most people don’t even do that and wonder why their dryer doesn’t dry and their vent pipe is also clogged). Maintenance on the combo is quick and easy. The only problem is fear mongering and some guy selling some conversion kit to profit from. This isn’t any different than people complaining about a plastic part because “it might break someday” but it never does because plastics are made better than they used to be.

  • @RedErin
    @RedErin 3 дня назад

    Who are these people that are sitting next to their washer and dryer and jumping up all day Saturday and Sunday every half hour? The GE Combo has given my freedom back. I actually spend less time doing laundry now and it’s far far easier. Our laundry never gets forgotten in the washer and needs to be rewashed (that will negate your speed run laundry frenzy). I finally have a modern machine that does the work for me! You have to clean the lint filter on a regular dryer each time, there is no extra work with these. In fact I never have to clean out my 2 story vertical vent pipe again, which is either do it myself or hire someone to do it for $400. These combos save more than is immediately apparent - time, money, sanity.

    I love the LG thus far. Been cleaning the lint filer after each use and checking the fins weekly. So far not much has accumluated on the fins. My only concern is, where else is the lint accumulating? The only way to assess this is to do a complete tear down of the machine to see where else it is accumulating.

  • @1900Ellen

    Thank you for this video. I have this combo unit being delivered today. I've watched videos and reviews on the GE and LG combos but decided to roll the dice on this one because of the slightly larger drum. Your previous comparison video of the GE vs the LG combos nudged me to buy an extended warranty.

  • @drwisdom1
    @drwisdom1 3 дня назад

    The selling point on combo washer and dryers is they save space, and secondarily you don't have to change the clothes from the washer to the dryer. Those are unimportant features compared to cleaning quality, dependability, longevity, and cost. The combo machines should be avoided in the same way as avoiding buying a combined computer and monitor. When one component breaks you have to throw away and repurchase the still good component with it. It is like a car with unremovable wheels where if you get a flat you have to throw away the car.

  • @drwisdom1
    @drwisdom1 3 дня назад

    Our Samsung washer was so poorly engineered it flooded our house, the warranty was a fraud, and we threw it away after 1.5 years. While it was just a washer, not the combo model, I would only get Samsung electronics. Samsung doesn't know what it is doing, and they don't care, when it comes to mechanical devices. It is a level of incompetency that is rare in modern times. The critically important part of this video starts at 5:55 where Mr. Sheinkopf discusses the warranties. If after 1.5 years with a warranty the Samsung washer can't justifiably be fixed, it will certainly be unfixable after a decade. Being in the business Mr. Sheinkopf is able to put two and two together while the uninformed learn it through suffering.

    I bought a 300 series last fall. Maybe not totally quiet but so much better than what I had before it is fine. I also like the stainless steel interior and not having a heating coil on the bottom. I do have two issues though. First the print on the panel is so small and unlit which makes it difficult to use. The second is programming for tech -challenged seniors like myself. Reading the manual is like reading it in Chinese for me. The quick start is very misleading. When I bought my new LG clothes washer I found a RUclips video that went step by step and the host even emailed me a suggestion sheet to print out with many excellent suggestions. If only there was one for my DW.

    We were interested in one of these because we are doing a bathroom remodel. The no vent and 110v would have knocked almost $4k off of the project. But, after looking at all the reviews that we could find, we opted for the LG tower. The all in one units just require too much maintenance. ie... clean the filters, pumps, and condenser. And like you said in this video, it's almost a 2 for 1. We are a retired couple, so we want simple, easy, and something that will last and is serviceable at a reasonable cost and time.

  • @christopherkesek1033
    @christopherkesek1033 4 дня назад

    We just got our profile as a family of 5, 4 being women. Its a great machine so far. In my opinion the concept of how you do laundry rather than a laundry day just throw a load in in the morning and one at night. 14 loads a week if you are consistent. There's no way with a standard washer and dryer setup you could do that in a laundry day or days. I think it's just adjusting your routine and schedule to optimize the ability and potential of the one and done. And maintenance is key. Just adapt to the machine and I believe these are the future with a change in traditional laundry mindset.

    Quick questions... Doesn't the Samsung have a lint cleaning cycle or method? Is it of any value? What about Samsung's energy & water consumption tracking? You were talking about service isn't there big box store service contracts? Finally, from the standpoint of two guys in a relatively small two bedroom apartment doesn't any of these three units make better sense in terms of cost of installation & ROI (with extended service contracts) vs. time and cost of using a laundromat? Which one between the LG or Samsung would you choice?
